The Present

Today Abbey Green is home to a thriving local community with a variety of shops, a garage, pubs and restaurants. The Parish is mainly residential with a scattering of professional, medical and dental practices. There are some light industrial units, a quarry and a landfill site that are currently earmarked for redevelopment. The area has four schools; The Abbey Church of England Infant School, Queens Church of England Junior School, Croft Junior School and Manor Park Community College.

Central to the worshiping life of the Parish is the celebration of the Eucharist. As a church we are deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition within the Church of England.

There are currently eight members of the congregation licensed to assist with the administering of the sacrament. These Eucharistic ministers also take the sacrament to individuals living in residential and nursing homes within the parish each Sunday and in the week to those living at home.

The congregation has a strong sense of community and is generally supportive of each other. There is a willingness to join together in a range of activities. The laity takes an active role in the ministry of the church with teams reading the lessons and leading the intercessions.
